Course Objectives: | The main purpose of this course; to guide mothers, fathers or people who will support breastfeeding, to develop the bond between mother and baby, and to educate people who can prevent breastfeeding or create solutions to breastfeeding-related problems. |
Course Content: | This course covers the definition of breastfeeding, its scope and factors of mother and baby playing a role in breastfeeding, initiation and termination of breastfeeding. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Defines epidemiological trends, historical events and promotional initiatives related to breastfeeding 2) • Define a lactation educator's roles and demonstrate a lactation educator's ability to identify situations outside the scope of practice. 3) • Identify common barriers to initiating breastfeeding and implement strategies to overcome these barriers. 4) • Identify the cultural possibilities and barriers of breastfeeding and implement strategies to overcome these barriers. 5) • Defines key concepts that a mother should know to be successful in breastfeeding her baby, including but not limited to: anatomy and physiology of lactation, maternal nutrition, impact of hospital practices on breastfeeding. |
