Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To educate nurses who can consider the needs of the individual and family in health and illness, feel sensitive to human-specific experiences, make sense of the reactions to illness and situation, and make appropriate approaches by using their communication skills.
Course Content: The communication concept, the importance of communication in nursing, patient-nurse communication, communication in special situations (crying, angry, constantly demanding patient, etc.), giving negative information, death perception, team communication.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) 1. To be able to identify the individual and family's reactions to the disease state and their needs
2) 2. Being aware of their own cognitions and needs when faced with difficult-to-manage communication situations
3) 3. To be able to meet the needs of the individual and family in accordance with the principles of therapeutic communication, helping skills and counseling
